"Insta"-replay #42, weekend camping recap

The week was spent getting ready for camping, cleaning, packing, shopping.  All of which I did without taking any pictures!  But I did manage to take some pictures of our camping.  So here is a wrap up on our weekend!
We headed off in good spirits!  Girls had plenty to keep them busy during the 4 hour car ride.
We made sure to stretch when we had pit stops!
Setting up the tent was a family event.  Although Jon did most of the hard work.
We were camping with my inlaws so it was fun going for walks with aunts and cousins.
Just being outside all day playing seemed to be the best part!
When it was finally time to drive home we stopped for ice cream, and a good thing too.  The drive home was an hour or so longer than the drive down, because of traffic.  Extra stops, to stretch our legs, were appreciated!

This was our first time camping as a family and we had a blast!

"Insta"-replay #41, dance, dance, dance!

This week has been all about dance!
We spent most nights practicing on stage.
Being at practice each night was a bit tiring but the girls did great.
We managed a few day time outings, including a trip to the library for the start of their summer reading program.
And had some crafting time when the cousins came over and helped decorate wooden blocks.  I let them use sharpies rather than paint, it might not last as long but is less messy.
Saturday they got all gussied up for the performance.
I loved watching them on stage!
The highlight of the show was a tap routine to a song from wicked!
Our very busy week ended with a Father's Day trip to the air museum.  They even got to look into the blackbird.

Summer is in full swing, one busy week done and another one just around the corner!

"Insta"-replay #40, recital time

Last week was dress rehearsal for my daughters' dance classes.
The theme this year is "colors" and the outfits are bright and fun.
Dance class is important to me because it gets us out of the house and keeps the girls active.
Dance is important to my girls because it is fun. And they have friendsin their classes, but mostly it is fun.
In addition to dancing at the studio there has been a lot of practicing outside.  Something I probably should have been encouraging earlier but better late than never.
And while my kids are busy I'm learning a new skill!  Knitting, at the rate I'm going I think I could make everyone in the family a small coaster or one person a really long scarf.  I just learned to start knitting, I'm not sure how to stop.

This week is the on stage rehearsals followed by the big performance so next weeks replay will probably contain a fair amount of dance!

"Insta"-replay #39, field trips!

This week we just couldn't find a reason to stay home.

We spent our mornings roaming Target.  Sometimes I think I ought to make a shopping list before I leave the house but all the exercise we get walking around the store while I try to figure out what I forgotten is probably good for us.
We took a long walk with my sister, she rewarded us with yogurt, the girls love choosing their own topping.
We visited our local Children's Museum.  They had a new display room with aviation activities.  Merry loved making foam structures to put in the air tube.
There was also a German room where Charry built a castle while listening to yodeling.
Then we were off to Grandma Jackie's for a birthday party.  The girls insisted on bringing their Popsicle stick puppets, but I never figured out why.
Our final outing was a big one!  A Zoo Snooze Camparoo with Girl Scouts!  This year the troop decided to use their cookie money for a zoo trip, not just any zoo trip, an over night zoo trip.
We got a evening tour that included a behind the scenes look at the kitchen and animal hospital.
And we were even able to make s'mores!
In the morning Jon joined us for a normal family day at the zoo.  But I'm not sure how normal my family is.  Every time they see a waterfall they just have to chase it!

Long fun week!  Summer is here!
